What is the bare minimum you need to feel comfortable in a space?
Our perception of the world is entirely based on fleeting interaction, which briefly illuminate, and then slowly fade.
We see the world in a broad spectrum of colour. But our eyes ability to perceive colour is restricted to a very small area surrounding our point of focus. When we see colour in our peripherals it is a pure construct of our mind based on past experiences. Our brain knows that the wall is blue because we looked at it at some point in the past so when we see the wall in the corner of our eyes our brain fills in the gaps by telling us it is blue.
Inference is a Light and Sound installation, entirely hand-crafted, that explores the effects of deprivation and manipulation of sensory input to challenge our perception of the world around us.
A dark empty room. Lighting tubes hanging from the ceiling connected to sensors that activate light and sound when the tubes are touched. People are invited to explore the dark room and activate lighting and sounds by inadvertently interacting with the space. The result is a magical immersive installation that challenges the way we experience reality when our reference points are taken away, forcing us to 'see' our surrounding with a 'fresh pair of eyes'.
